Nessy's Note
I’m the girl who asks a lot of her breakfast.
She wants it to be filling enough to hold her over all morning. She wants it to help her get enough fiber and protein.
And sometimes she wants it savory (like smoked salmon avocado toast), while other days she wants it to taste like a treat (which is exactly how my brownie baked oatmeal came to be!).
Enter this cookie dough yogurt bowl.
It hits that sweet spot (literally) where it tastes like dessert but still checks the boxes for protein, fiber and healthy fats to fuel my busy morning.
Ingredients and Substitutions

- Greek Yogurt- I prefer to use whole milk or 2% for the best flavor and creaminess (like in yogurt scrambled eggs) but non-fat will work if that's what you prefer.
- Substitution: Any unsweetened yogurt (balkan, skyr, etc.) will work but note that the protein content and thickness vary.
- Almond Butter- I find the toasty flavor of almond butter makes this bowl taste very cookie dough-like (which is why I use it in my cookie dough overnight oats, too).
- Substitution: Another nut butter such as pecan or cashew also works well and adds a nice toasty flavor. Peanut butter can be used too but its flavor is more pronounced and less like a classic cookie dough.
- Honey- For sweetness. You can adjust it to taste.
- Substitution: Maple syrup works great too.
- Ground Flaxseed- Adds fiber and helps make the yogurt thicker and more “cookie dough”-like.
- Substitution: Ground chia seeds or almond flour can also be used, or you can leave it out but just note the texture will be more yogurt-like.
- Vanilla Extract- Key for that cookie dough flav-ah!
- Salt- It brings out the vanilla and enhances the cookie dough taste so I don't suggest skipping it.
- Chocolate Chips/Toppings- You can use classic chocolate chips or top with other favorite cookie dough mix-ins.

My Tips for the Best Cookie Dough Yogurt Bowl
- Make it ahead of time. While you can enjoy it fresh, letting it sit allows the flaxseed to absorb moisture, thickening the mixture and making it more cookie dough-like. So it's a great recipe to get ready the night ahead for an even quicker breakfast!
- Get creative with toppings. Play around with your favorite cookie mix-ins to keep it fun and satisfying.
- The vanilla and salt are key. These two are essential for bringing out the cookie dough flavor.
